Eric Frasher, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested by FBI agents pursuant to an arrest warrant charging him with distribution of
child pornography.
According to the federal complaint, on February 13, 2011, an undercover FBI agent used a publicly available file-sharing program to select and download images depicting child pornography directly from his computer. A federal search warrant was served at his Santee, California residence. He was interviewed by FBI agents and admitted that he used a file-sharing program to receive and distribute child pornography images. Forensic analysis revealed hundreds of images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
In 2000, he was convicted in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California of possession of images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He is expected to appear a before U.S. Magistrate Judge around April 6, 2011. This case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office.
This investigation was conducted under the FBI’s Innocent Images National Initiative, along with the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The mission of these agencies is to reduce the vulnerability of children to acts of sexual exploitation and abuse facilitated through the use of computers. They also investigate and prosecute sexual predators who use the internet to sexually exploit children.
