Seven people were arrested in Santa Ana, California related to a crime spree that included attempted murder, carjacking and a car crash after attempting to evade police during a chase.
Edgar Bustos, Francisco Castillo, Andrew Chavez, Lorenzo Flores, Javier Galvin, Yasmine Ramos, and a 17 year-old minor were taken into custody and booked on conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, carjacking, robbery and
evading police. According to a police commander at the Santa Ana Police Department, all of the suspects who were arrested are gang members.
This incident started on Thursday , around 10:30 p.m., when a passenger in a Chevrolet pickup truck opened fire and wounded two young boys riding their bicycles on Hathaway Street. Both victims were struck in the leg with non-life-threatening injuries.
Then, around 1:30 a.m the next morning, some of the gang members pulled a gun on a 16-year-old boy at a nearby gas station and stole his car. In this incident, the victim was not harmed. Several hours later, around 9am, police officers observed a suspicious vehicle near the scene of the previous incidents. After the driver made eye contact with the police, he immediately fled and led police on a 6-minute chase before crashing into two cars. No one was injured in the crash.
