A gang member was charged with attempted murder of a police officer and premeditated attempted murder after a high-speed police chase in Fullerton, California.
Police claim Diego Figueroa, 22, of Buena Park, and Aurelio Ramos-Navarette, who is also a gang member, crashed their car through a fence and landed into a drainage canal at the end of a high-speed pursuit. Navarette fled the crash scene and hid in a tunnel in the drainage canal. He then shot at police, who returned fire that killed him.
Figueroa has been charged with violent crime offenses of attempted murder on a police officer, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation, shooting an inhabited dwelling from a vehicle, evading arrest while driving recklessly,
possession of a firearm, and active participation in a criminal street gang.
