Two South Pasadena, California men suspected of robbing a man who answered a Craigslist ad to buy an iPhone may have committed similar robberies in the San Gabriel Valley. Daniel So and Garrett Helstrom were arrested and being held on $100,000 bail each. They are in custody at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
A Lawndale man who was the victim, agreed to pay $500 for the phone and arranged to meet them at a restaurant parking lot in Temple City. So pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him and demanded that he give him money. An investigation by the sheriff’s Asian Gang Team led police to So’s home, where they saw him enter a vehicle who was later identified as Helstrom. Police stopped the vehicle and found a replica of a semi-automatic handgun and suspected stolen property. They were both arrested and charged with robbery.
